windy nights blue moons
Hello all!
The window blinds/door in our bedroom broke last week. It is the kind that you have to pull upwards to be able to go out the door or it completely locks you in. So, in order to be able to have some fresh air in and go out to the patio we had to put two large planting pots to hold it up. The way that we have it set up makes it impossible to close the door all the way, it’s hard sometimes to keep up with sweeping the leaves that blow in, but it’s worth it for the extra air.
Since the door to the patio is on the second floor, and faces outward on a public street we figured that we wouldn’t have any problems with ppl entering through the opening while we’re gone. But apparently we were wrong. Last night we came home and the kitchen trash had been dragged around the room. Odd, we thought. Then we noticed that the bag had slashes all over it. Weirder, we thought. Then we saw the evidence that proved without a doubt of a ‘break’ and entrance – Paw Prints were everywhere!
It seems that the local cat sniffed its way to our chicken bones leftovers. The least he could have done is cleaned up after him self, but at least he didn’t leave any other special present. We’re looking into getting the blinds fixed.
The is the last week of this change, I can’t believe how quickly it has gone by, Hna Ung and I are hoping for one more change together.
This Friday we have a mission conference in Montevideo with Elder Bednar, it should be really good, plus I’m excited to see my old companions! I know they all miss me terribly.
Today we are headed out with a couple (Zulma and Raul, I think I’ve talked about them before) they are taking us out the the Canas again to have a cook out!
I really have to get ppl to stop feeding me. = )
Anyway all things good,
We met up with a masonite – ish person the other day. He is a thorough student of the Bible, and due to his deep readings and meditations, he is convinced that the savior will not come again until there is a ‘Restoration of all things’ as well as a gathering of Isreal. What great news we could give him, right! But no, he would not listen to our message, nor would he read the Book of Mormon. Sigh, o well, he’s on a good track, but I think if he relied less on his own studies and more on consulting with God he would get there.
I’m attaching the email of hna ung because it tells more info
This good love ot all!

Hola familia,
How is everyone doing? Well it was another good week, like always. It had some ups and downs. We did our best to find, testify and challenge as many people to be baptized as possible and we were able to give a lot of baptismal dates…however, many didn’t show up to church and lost their dates. That happens a lot. At one point, we were looking at having 5 baptisms this weekend. However, one thing after another, we ended up with just one. But that’s okay, cuz there’s still just a ton of potential out here. It’s amazing how many souls have been prepared beforehand. It doesn’t cease to amaze me. Anyway, her name is Melissa and she’s a super cool girl.
Also, Manuel is doing awesome. I love seeing recent converts progress and strengthen their testimonies. I can only imagine how amazing it must be to be a mother and watch your kids grow and understand the gospel and obtain their own testimonies because just as a missionary, it makes me so happy to see my converts progressing. This week, his wife finally gave in and listened in on a lesson. A couple weeks ago she said no when we asked her to listen but now she says she knows she’s going to get baptized but she doesn’t know when yet. She’s waiting for something to tell her it’s the right moment. So of course, I told her she had to pray and ask Heavenly Father to tell her. My goal is for her to feel that “something” and be baptized by the end of the month. It’s so cute cuz Manuel totally encouraging her to get baptized. He’s also planning on going on the trip with the ward to the temple in Montevideo next month to do baptisms. Oh and I forgot to mention that last week I spoke in church and my topic was temples and the whole time I was preparing my talk, Manuel was on my mind. I know some day he and his wife and family will be sealed! Yay! I love when people are happy!!
Well, in other news. I’m super stoked cuz I heard news that my good friend, Ann Gardner, will be joining me here in the Montevideo Uruguay West Mission in a few months. We traveled together in Europe and studied abroad in Spain together a few years ago, and that’s really when I finally started gaining a testimony for myself. Her example helped me a ton and I’ve always considered her to be my “first companion” cuz we were constantly together in a foreign country and it was a good spiritual experience for me—we even went on splits with the sister missionaries in Spain and had some great missionary opportunities. Anyway, now she’s coming here and I’m praying that I will be able to train her when she gets here! I can’t wait!
Oh and on Friday we’re going to Montevideo to see Elder Bednar! We’re pretty excited about that. Then you wont be hearing from me Monday because it will be the week of changes. Crazy! It’s already the end of the change. I’m not excited about that. I do NOT want to leave Fray Bentos and I do NOT want a new companion. Hermana Salisbury and I get along great and work really well together. So I’m praying that the Lord thinks so too. I will let ya’ll know on Tuesday! Welp, have a great week!
