Hello!!
Oh no the bad news has finally come. The sun sets on my preaching days here in Fray Bentos. I guess the outcome was a little expected as I have been here for the last nine months (a good half of my mission whoa)
But my heart beats lively and is eager for uncharted territory – yes! I love adventures. The twist of the story is I will be opening the area with a fairly new Sister (Hermana Casebolt from St. George, in her second change). It will be a challenge but one I am ready to face. I’ve already been mentally preparing myself for the change and am setting new goals to be able to preach and teach with renewed power and zeal.
My new area is in Salto, the second largest city in Uruguay. Don’t have too many new details about what the area will be like. Maybe with a new environment my letters home will become more interesting…..well don’t get your hopes up just in case.
Hermana Gardner is sad to see me go. I’ve basically become her idol and breath of every day. But I know she will do great and continue to see many miracles with the pple here. (all jokes aside, Hna Gardner is a fantastic missionary and has raised the bar for me is soo many ways. Hopefully one day I will be able to meet her in excellence.)
Goodbyes haven’t been that bad, actually I almost wish that I could cry more than I do. The person that will be the hardest to leave will be my dear friend Estela Luccion. She is my grandmother, sister, friend, and mentor of the mission. I love her dearly and will miss her warm house, our long talks, her striking laugh, and her delicious cookies.
I will miss knowing my way around the streets and being able to wave and greet everyone like they’re my long life friends. I’ll miss going to the grocery store and being able to recognize every face, remember where they live, who they’re related to and how many kids they have.
Here’s a poem
I’ve got in the works
Enjoy!
It’s called, O Fray Bentos
O Fray Bentos,
With your smoke tower standing tall
the sun rising above the rambla
its rays reflecting off the water
O Fray Bentos,
the dusty road up to the anglo
where all my little friends run and play
familiar faces at every turn
we pass and strive to talk and preach
O Fray Bentos
The Office store is crowded and loud
Let’s go the Familiar where the rythme’s slow and its got wide aisles
The lady of the fruteria glares as I handle the fruta with what I think is care
O Fray Bentos
We awake in the morning to the aromas of the Espiga
I fall off the half-hinged toilet seat
The hermana makes oatmeal in the dark of the kitchen
O Fray Bentos,
Your gorgeous chapel dressed in white, frente al terminal where everyone can see you
English class on Thursdays, and activities on Fridays
It gets us all ready for the meetings we have on Sunday
O Fray Bentos,
The lord is in the air he watches and he cares
May he be with you ever more and help your children stay away from drugs and find happiness with the things that really bless
O Fray Bentos
Love you all
