An Adventure with the Cobbler

So I would just like to report on the awesome shoe repair job that the local cobbler (shoe tailor man right?) did this week on my shoes.

When I took them in they were pretty worn out. Holding the shoe up and looking into the instep you could see through the other side. Plus with rain and quarter size stones creeping in while I walked something had to be done.

If in the states or in other circumstances, I would have to admit that my first step of action would be to throw away the worn out shoes and to buy new holeless ones. But that is not the Uruguay style my friends, nor the most economical.

We walked around unto we saw a cardboard sign with the word ZAPTERO painted on it. Ah–ha! Exactly what we’re looking for. The cobbler and his wife got right to work on ‘los zapatos de la mormona’. I told them I need something to last me six more months of heavy walking. A few days later I went back and – WaLa! Same shoes – new soles! New Step! And only 160 pesos (six bucks).

Things are good again in missionary city.
=) =)

On Saturday we ate lunch with a family of eight kids. I felt right at home =). I missed the chaos of cooking for a big family.

Hey – eight more days til my 22nd birthday!!!

Love to all
