Last Week in Argentina
**So Susie apparently didn’t get much family support via the e-mails this week. And it’s only her second week. :P We probably just don’t realize how much we miss her yet. Hmm. Anyways, send her a letter, or at least an e-mail. Also, you should realize how much editing Susie’s letters receive. If you know how Susie types, you know you probably can’t understand much of what she says. She sent me two lines and it look me about 3 minutes to figure it out. See for yourself:
kaarie!! I miksss you!! hoe you are wle!! what are you doimg !!! wany way gott to tgot the the tmel1 I cant belive youdidnt reaitw me with week!! laoem!o!
Translation: Karie! I miss you! Hope you are well! What are you doing? Anyways, I’ve gotta go, no time! I can’t believe you didn’t write me this week. Lameo!
Anyways, just an example of how her letters come in…although her “official” letters are a tad bit better.
Also, I’m starting a Sister Suswha Says column on the side where I’ll pull out Susie’s best quotes from her mission.
Last Week in Argentina
Mmm well, great P-Day today. It was really exciting to come to my inbox and find ALL of the emails that I received. Wheew—what a rush.
Well despite the lack of love, I guess I will try to get a few lines in to the fam.
This is my last week here at the MTC! We fly out to Montevideo Tuesday morning, what a relief! I really have enjoyed the MTC but sitting in a classroom all day long can be a little trying sometimes.
Last Saturday, we went on a proselytizing proselyting activity! They bused us out to an
area, giving each companionship an area to work in for the day.
It went well, we knocked doors, clapped at doors, rang doorbells, stopped to talk with people on the street. My Paraguayan companion is very persistent.
I learned a lot from the experience, and there’s a lot of things I could share about it, but I only want to focus in one thing that I realized which I think will be very important in my next year and a half here.
Going door to door, talking to these random people that I don't even know anything about, I realized this mission has nothing to do with me. I am not here in Argentina wearing a skirt and practicing teaching techniques every day because it’s something to do with me. I am not at their door because I care about them or that I will be affected by their life decisions or by how they raise their families or if they are happy or sad or
successful or poor. It really doesn't affect me at all. I’m not at their door because I love them; I’m at their door because God does. Their Heavenly Father loves them so much that He actually sent somebody to tell them that. He cares so much about their life decisions that He sent somebody to go tell them about His gospel and how they can bless their lives. He cares if they are happy or sad or successful or poor. Really it has nothing to do with me, but everything to do with the Lord. The more I can forget about myself, I
know the more I will be able to transmit the love of the Savior to them, because that’s really who I am as a missionary—a representative of him. Just to help them and love them like He would. and do what He wants me to do and say what hHe wants me to say. The best part about it is that the more I forget about myself and just let myself pass the love of the Savior to them (these random people I meet on the street), the more I can feel love for them. And it really does feel great!
Anyway, hope that makes sense, I wanted to throw some scriptures in there but
I'm already out of time so I hope you are all OK and hopefully somebody will
send me an email next week!!
Next letter will be sent from URUGUAY!!

I love that you are posting Susie's letters. I am Ryan's mom and enjoy reading this. Keep up the good work! I did send her a package this last week so hopefully she'll get it before she leaves the MTC.
ReplyDeleteI totally wrote her a letter. With my cross-continental mailing experiences though, something probably happened to it. I need to make them look more boring so people don't steal them.
